10 Years Old! Celebrating TOGETHER!

Birthday!
Long-awaited. Much anticipated. Repeatedly discussed.
Finally arrived. Thoroughly enjoyed.
Mona loves everything with wheels!

COUSINS!

Gifts and hugs for the gift-givers

If you are going to ice your cake and store it in the oven for safe-keeping
and then turn on the oven to warm up some naan for lunch, this is the cake for you.

Celebration began on birthday eve with a shopping outing and Steak and Shake supper with Grandpa and Grandma Brubaker.

A bit of snow greeted Mona on his birthday morning. He has been anxious to see it, but I don't think it quite lived up to his expectations. Yet. Our boy from sunnier, warmer climes has greeted cool fall days with shorts (he calls them half-pants) and short-sleeves (half-sleeves) whenever he has the choice. But he thought his birthday morning weather was worthy of a coat.

Mona's birthday party at G'pa & G'ma Brubaker's garage was exactly what he wanted: people (grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins), food and of course, gifts.

One unusual gift Mona received was a new name. A couple months ago, he learned that his friend Sangeet was given a new name, Levi, by his parents. Mona wanted the name Levi also. His desire for a new name grew and he began giving us suggestions, the first: Horse; the last: Banana. We had decided that if he wanted a new name we would give him one, but he has been Mona for 9 years, so a name change is a big deal. Mona is a girl's name in India also, and it means "alone." We want to bless him with a good, strong name. We ruled out Horse, Banana and many other "helpful" suggestions (Charlie Horse, Horace, Morse...) from family members.

Drum roll...

Noah Emmanuel Bayer

Noah: comfort, rest
Emmanuel: God with us

God has been with Mona/Noah all of his life. He is not alone. And now God has put him in family, blessing each one of us. We want his new name to be a testimony and praise to God's presence and work in his life.

Happy birthday, Mona! Happy birthday, Noah!
What a blessing to celebrate your 10th birthday together!

L, it was so nice to talk with you Saturday after the recital. I meant to come here sooner after you told me you'd updated ... I love the pics you've posted! The girls and I read your blog together and chuckled and sighed all at the same time. Our oldest told me how much fun she had playing with Noah Saturday afternoon. Your entire family is a joy and blessing!! I pray that you're all having a nice week!

    In Him~
