Movie marathon followed by snoozing sessions. Pretty easy day. But just found out he has 101.7 fever. That may explain why he was cold and sleepy and quiet. And easy. Just thought it was post-surgery recovery. The nurse is calling the doctor to see if he should start on a different antibiotic.
Noah checked chocolate ice cream off his list! I'm guessing he will want to check that off again. Besides ice cream he has had a few dry fruit loops, 2 saltine crackers, orange and red popsicles and a couple apple juices. Everything is staying down. He is now able to take a couple meds that they weren't able to give him via iv. He still has all of his tubes and wires except the one in his nose that looked like oxygen, but really was measuring his CO2 levels. Glad it's gone! It kept coming out and beeping. Still have plenty of other monitors for our beeping pleasure.
The nurse just reported that there isn't anything else to give Noah for his fever and we just need to keep an eye on him, make sure he is drinking and doing his breathing exercises, and use wet washcloths. He can't have tylenol or ibuprofen for different reasons. He is awake again, watching Despicable Me. That is another sign that he isn't well. He is watching movies at very low volume now and not finishing them.
Throw up bowl in his lap, trying to keep the last round of meds down. So far so good.
Today, Noah enjoyed some cheery get well balloons and matchbox cars from the Kelly's, cards Greg brought that came in our mailbox, a stack of ecards, and a sunshine gift from Grandpa's. I could tell by his words that he enjoyed each one. His smile is understandably a bit forced today. With the snake and balloon bouquet from his cousins and A. Colleen yesterday, his room is quite festive.
All of this blogging is to make up for all past and future lack of posts. Enjoy it while it lasts! I currently have a nurse, pca, or team, pain team, respiratory team and physical therapist all taking care of Noah. Plus Greg during the days. No food prep, no laundry, no homeschooling, no cleaning. I am beginning to see why I usually do so badly about posting.
And Noah is sleeping again. Good night all!
